good morning. Family's is mr. Varney I'm here to share with you this morning a presentation that some of you might have seen at our back to school night concerning Title One and our Title 1 funds that we received as an elementary school so that I'm going to share my screen see if I can pull up our presentation and we'll go through this together okay already I've mentioned this presentation was the same one. we went through and had on our back to school night and I understand that some families weren't able to attend so I wanted to make sure we had this available to take a look at and if at anytime feel free to ask any questions you may have by contacting me here in the office and we'll go from there I don't want parent meeting first off for those you that are new to Dent we have lots of new students in kindergarten and also a lot of students joining us from other districts is Greer. Welcome to do an extra money and Anthony Barney this is my eighth year as principal at ditto Elementary School in serving this community that Squat and I just want to express my my appreciation and would have to get for three things that we go through in navigating this challenging school year and that is your patience and your kindness and we are very excited to be here in learning with your kids at our school and with with patience and kindness will be able to navigate all the challenges that we go through as we did successfully last year is the welcome to den let's carry on what it what is it that we're so excited about when there's so many different things as I mentioned we are in person I will welcome them back or shoot pool day before 6 our school last year we were naughty do a full 6 hour day but this year we are will be able to play with sports equipment that have we we missed out on last year students are no longer sectioned off into cohorts outside and inside and so they're able to and have some moments together on the yard and they get jealous of cherry that on not just on the yard but in their classroom as well so we're students are able to do some pair sharing and even in some cases student groups. distance between each other and they're even able to come down to the carpet for portions of their day our teachers are doing a great job to making sure that we have our seating charts and all areas so that if there was a case where we needed to contact face and that is something that we've done really well for starters clear and there's so many other things that you can't put the paper that is why we're so excited to be back here in on campus that we can feed to be safe with all that being said would you need to make sure that we are safe we do continue to follow the Mandate that has been put forth West by our Public Health officials meeting that students that are indoors will be wearing that as well as a staff at all times endorse in while we're outside inside the options that have the option to remove their Mass to get some of that fresh air indoors unless we have a doctor's note stating that a student needs a shield we're asking. Fallout mask mandate again for our safety and again that's been pushed down from the state's Public Health officials alright I'll see combat the the issues that we have class we have two air purifiers preach and when we have common areas like a cafeteria or Library we have more than two to get that purification of the air is a helpful thing we are in the process of replacing are filters in a AC and Heating units we have been up to date on those are our systems are due in a couple months and so each classroom has their own system which means that the Air does not cross from one class from the other which is a very helpful and beneficial thing up to date on that we can provide tpe for students and staff can you sanitizing we're here for you and then we also brought on a lot more outside table to wear teachers and classes can go outside one's nice day and do some of their learning outside Outdoors to get some of that fresh air and then lastly for any students desks and families that would like to remain on just learning as a message we are 100% good morning however we have partnered with so much in County Office of Education to offer assembly Bill 134 students to have a distance learning option going through the county operator but let's get down to what is the title one program is a program that provides us with funds to help our students support our students that are at risk of not obtaining or meeting Common Core State Standards what's that mean allows us to these funds that we received from the government allows us to support students in lots of different ways whether be within the classroom or with personnel this year then Elementary is receiving a large portion Title 1 funds of $159,268 and because of these funds like I mentioned before they're off we're able to offer our teachers and are instructional aides and our staff trainings in a variety of areas to help that learning of he's kind of course dinner and some of those areas are on this life not only do we offer training for staff we also use those funds to offer programs to gather data and assessment data for us he came through five on the slide you'll see that we have star Renaissance Learning which is early literacy star reading star Maps course we also used Title 1 funds for PLC collaboration days you come and gather and analyze that data to help form our groups of intervention Title 1 funds helps support these initiatives on our campus and I'll see you in that picture. If we do also utilize some of these funds to help are Miley blades are paraprofessionals in any of the instructional materials they may need when pulling their small groups for rad140 smokers there are other ways go to involved because that's what this is when you come to school you have a partnership between staff and and and parents and because of that Bond we were able to navigate last year with communication make sure we continue that on and there's several ways I don't want friends help us and get parents involved with our school one of them is a beetle is a session of a School site Council that's one of the ways that parents can get involved with helping us make these decisions on how we utilize These funds that we received from Title One insult backpack school night and even before so we asked families that might have been interested in participating in School site Council to fill out your name and your your in your and so we've been collecting these this afternoon will be sending out Google for families to vote on or representative to be elected on two are coming School site Council and so that's really exciting discount like I said house that's kosher School figure out different initiatives to get parent involvement and help support our students in all that we do and one of the biggest things you need to review our site plan and that will be happening in the coming months if you're not able to to take part in the school site Council that there are things that you can do everyday with your child as involved Partners in education you already doing it by being a positive role model for your kiddos reading a story every evening with your students arriving them read the story for you actually I'm not about to ask questions about what did at recess what was their favorite part of the day did they have a good day with their friends what did they learn from their teachers I could did you study habits there's lots of different ways that you're already doing it a reminder just to feel free to ask questions your kiddos and if you do that that's a fantastic gift that you're giving your shoes because you're being interested in your child's education units but having these positive y'all come down as we figured out the last two years is to communication and even though we are in person this year last year we learned as a staff importance to be in constant communication with our families are teachers even said in a in a reflectively that last year might have been the most communication that we've ever had with our families and in doing so we connected with our family built those relationships together because of that if you don't know or if you have question pants it's really important that you feel comfortable and confident to reach out to your child's teacher or the school at any time we're in this together and if you have any questions please let us know another coming up in the next few months is parent-teacher conference our teachers you want to meet with you we don't want there to be any surprises and so if you are interested or have any questions at anytime please feel free to reach out to your house cuz there's a lot of different ways to defend the teacher they may use the remind app they may use ClassDojo or they may use just the simple email or even phone call whenever your teacher preference is is is the way to get older than nfn if you're having a difficult time cost in the office so we can point you in the right direction just being on the same page for the success of our kids send a WeChat there's lots of different ways to get involved in school I went over how to be a part of our School site Council there's an English Learners advisory committee this trip is vitally important and it is targeted to our Spanish-speaking families of English Learners if you know an English Learners in English learning families please have them reach out to you to form this committee we have a committee returning committee but we also need to vote some more members on your act as well and so if you're interested in being a part of do you like mini please call the office and let us know because those will be happening in the coming weeks parents night Parents Club rpto is a phenomenal resource to our classes are teachers in our student last year was very difficult having a parent-teacher organization because of how we roll once you are not able to have meetings in person so if you're interested in being a part of parents Club please communicate that to the teacher's computer to our office and will get you in the right, we'll set up. Communication Spokane Teachers organization and finally you know hopefully one day soon we'll be able to bring back there and we'll share them forcibly at this point we're not as you know we are close to campus because of the safety restriction that we currently are following and thank you for taking part in our El Cap survey last year every year we we we put out a local control accountabilities plant and based on parent feedback that feedback Rabil to take that information and formulate our sky you're so thank you for participating those and you better believe there will be another one coming out this year lastly thank you for your support these are challenging times and we've been working through this together not only this year but the following year as well I do my time here in Escalon I've always felt very connected to this community very open and communication with these families that we serve it's an honor to do so at any time if you have any questions or if you ever any clarification on anything that we're doing in school please pick up the phone give me a call here in the office drawer 9 8 3 8 7 0 3 1 and if not feel free to email me as well best 1usd.
