Anthony L. Varni
To all our Dent Dragon families and those of you that are new to our school; welcome! My name is Anthony Varni and it is my privilege to serve as principal of our school, Dent Elementary. Below is a brief educational background of myself and who I am.
I started my educational career at Modesto Junior College where I earned my Associates of Arts degree and transferred to California State University, Fresno where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies as well as my multiple subjects teaching Credential.
After college, I returned to the Modesto area where I served as a substitute teacher in several school districts, including Escalon. I taught all grade levels, Kindergarten through 8th grade. I have taught and served in the Diocese of Stockton at St. Luke Catholic Elementary School as well as at St. Anthony’s Catholic Elementary School in Manteca. At both sites, I served as the Assistant Principal where I was the Head of the Discipline Committee as well as a part of Leadership teams that focused on school success and Common Core State Standards. Because I too am a lifelong learner, I went back to school for my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and School Development as well as my Administrative Services Credential at Teacher’s College of San Joaquin.
For fun, I enjoy golfing, fishing, BBQ'ing, watching sports, and spending time with my wife Danielle, and our three daughters Abigail (age 9) and Madeline (age 7), and Vivian (1 year). My favorite Sports Teams are the San Francisco Giants, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bears, and the San Jose Sharks.
I am proud of our school culture that we continue to build year after year and the direction our district continues to strive for. Our school's Mission Statement is Dent Elementary CARES: We are Collaborative, Active, and Responsible Educators and Students. Dent Elementary School staff shares collective responsibility, and are collaborative to ensure all students learn at high levels.
We are a Positive Behavior Intervention Campus (PBIS) where we teach and preach to our students the importance and values of the “Three R’s”: Dent Dragons Are Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. My door is always open; I look forward to this upcoming school year with great anticipation!
