Principal Anthony L. Varni

At a young age, my mom and dad taught me the value of hard work, determination and dedication.  Because of these important life values and the examples set forth by my parents and grandparents, I took my education very seriously.

I started my educational career at Modesto Junior College where I earned my Associates of Arts degree and transferred to California State University, Fresno where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies as well as my multiple subjects teaching Credential.

After college I returned to the Modesto area where I served as a substitute teacher in several school districts, including Escalon.  I taught all grade levels, Kindergarten through 8th grade.  I have taught and served in the Diocese of Stockton at St. Luke Catholic Elementary School as well as at St. Anthony’s Catholic Elementary School in Manteca.  At both sites, I served as the Assistant Principal where I was the Head of the Discipline Committee as well as a part of Leadership teams that focused on school success and Common Core State Standards. Because I too am a lifelong learner, I went back to school for my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and School Development as well as my Administrative Services Credential at Teacher’s College of San Joaquin.

For fun I enjoy golfing and spending time with my wife Daniele and our two daughters Abigail (age 3) and Madeline (14 months).  I am also a huge sports fan and recently started collecting bobble head figurines and memorabilia.  My favorite Sports Teams are the San Francisco Giants, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bears, and the San Jose Sharks.

I am excited to start my 4th year here at Dent, and being a part of the Escalon Unified School District. I am proud of the school culture that we continue to build year after year and the direction our district continues to strive for; student excellence in all areas.   My door is always open; I look forward to this upcoming school year with great anticipation.
